Practice
Zen is a Buddhist tradition in which teachers have, for generations, guided students to realization through practice. Our central practice, zazen (坐禅), is Japanese for seated meditation. Formal zazen follows a traditional format that has proven effective over the centuries, and sitting together supports the practice in many ways. Other forms of practice include kinhin, walking meditation; chanting; and samu, work practice. Dokusan, a one-on-one meeting with the teacher, is the primary means by which the Zen tradition transmits experience from teacher to student. Dharma talks shed light on the Zen tradition’s perspective on various aspects of life. READ MORE →
